			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After living in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, México for ten years (1991-2001) and seeing the urgency for sustainable development in ecologically sensitive areas like Baja, I have still not given up on the idea of building my own <a href="http://www.earthship.net/"><strong>earthship</strong></a> and pursuing the almost utopian dream of disconnecting myself from &#8220;the grid.&#8221;  </p>
<p>I just found out that an old friend still living in Los Cabos is zealously working towards providing solar powered products and ecological home alternatives (solar plants, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_cooker">solar cookers</a> and home <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desalination">desalination</a> plants).   I am excited to get back into the solar path, I&#8217;ve been asked to cover the upcoming &#8220;<a href="http://www.solarpowerconference.com/">Solar Power International &#8217;08</a>&#8221; Conference in San Diego (Oct. 13-16, 2008).
