Kyosemi revolutionized traditional solar cell design. This major breakthrough has created innovative applications and increased solar power efficiency, it’s cylindrical shape is able to capture reflected and diffused solar light.
What better place for solar cells than roofs and shading material, right? SKYShades© a global leader in supplying shade and tension membrane structures now has a development agreement with Konarka Technologies Inc. the producers of Power Plastic® flexible solar cells, they plan to integrate organic photovoltaic (OPV) material into tension fabric material. SKYShades© top guns Barry Maranta, Joe McKenna and Greg Noman “The Great White Shark” are turbo charging their already successful company into a brilliant new solar power arena.
New England solar power company “Konarka” has developed a revolutionary thin flexible photovoltaic film which is printed with a coating using a modified label making machine. The cost will be lower than existing solar cells and it has countless applications. Technology changing the world.
After living in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, México for ten years (1991-2001) and seeing the urgency for sustainable development in ecologically sensitive areas like Baja, I have still not given up on the idea of building my own earthship and pursuing the almost utopian dream of disconnecting myself from “the grid.”
I just found out that an old friend still living in Los Cabos is zealously working towards providing solar powered products and ecological home alternatives (solar plants, solar cookers and home desalination plants). I am excited to get back into the solar path, I’ve been asked to cover the upcoming “Solar Power International ’08” Conference in San Diego (Oct. 13-16, 2008). You can see feature interviews of last year’s conference HERE. For more information on Earthships, Biotecture Sustainable Independent Buildings visit www.earthship.net
