I was sent this beautiful video by my fellow web explorer Delia. This is a magic example of how, with a little observation, one can come up with solutions of working with nature instead of trying to control with brute force. This family tradition takes place in the Meghalaya subtropical forests ecoregion of Northeast India. They get large amounts of rain so normal bridge constructions would be destroyed when the river level rises. So a local man had the idea of planting a fig tree and using it’s growing roots to create a resistant weave and build living bridges.

Architect Cameron Sinclair hopes to inspire architects and home designers to respond to the world housing crisis. Projects include transitional shelters like an Inflatable Hemp House, a Shipping Container and other ideas that will allow residents to eventually build a more permanent home or improve these sustainable homes. His focus is on how architecture interacts with the community and provides several plans for community centers. Countries include Africa, India, México, U.S.A., Brazil, China, Israel, Palestine, Vietnam.

His group provided Sunami relief shelters, community centers and schools. The parents and kids built and are now using theses schools. He worked with residents and volunteers in New Orleans after Katrina hurricane, to clean, redesign and rehabilitate homes without waiting for FEMA to tell them what to do. Quick assembly emergency shelters and tents, devemoped by hundreds of architects and designers and inventors that are getting involved around the world in humanitarian work.

A recent U.N. (United Nations) report described how the livestock industry’s misuse of resources makes it the NUMBER ONE CAUSE of GLOBAL WARMING. Not only this, but it is one of the top ten items on the list of problems contributing to world hunger. The amount of grains needed to produce a pound of meat greatly outweighs the end product, it is an expensive product destined to a small percentage of the world’s population.

Here’s an intelligent look at the situation by Professor Donna Quesada, this first part of the video has a quote from Paul MacCartney and his views on the vegetarian lifestyle.

The new Opel Ampera Electric Car concept was unveiled recently at the 79th Geneva International Motor Show, March 3 2009. Adam Opel GmbH is a subsidiary of GM in Europe. The car’s exterior design first hit you with the unique macho though guy look on the front headlights. A good start for counteracting motor enthusiast’s weak opinion of electric cars. Boasting zero carbon emissions, the Ampera four-door electric hatchback offers a top speed of 130 Km/hr (80 miles per hour) with a range of 145 kilometers (90miles). It is powered by a 330 volt lithium ion battery and charges within 14 hours by plugging into any home A/C electric outlet.

“Excellent Development” is a UK charity working with communities in Kenya, together they are creating sand dams for capturing and storing rain water and forming terraces for farming. Bamboo is ideal as sustainable construction material. Bamboo can grow more than 1 meter (3.4 feet) in one day. There are over 1,000 species of Bamboo and they come in all sizes, some can grow to over 40 meters (132 feet) high. Bamboo timber is very strong and is used in building construction for strong support beams, wall paneling and hardwood flooring. People make Bamboo furniture, Bamboo arts & crafts, art frames, baskets, Bamboo chimes, Bamboo bicycles, fly rods, Bamboo boats, Bamboo surfboards, Bamboo bongs, you name it. It is fast becoming a smart option in modern home construction (not only used for tropical huts), find out more and hopefully we can stay away from destroying our planet’s forest regions.

I will be posting useful information on Hemp, I believe that we can stop the uncontrolled deforestation, immigration and drug related problems if we take a serious look into decriminalizing Hemp and growing it commercially again. It was made illegal through manipulations by diabolic powers in a 1930s conspiracy and since then has caused major imbalances to our world. Hemp requires no pesticides to grow, it has no natural enemies other than the DuPont company, see Jack Herer “The Emperor Wears No Clothes“.

Just wanted to give kudos to Make Magazine’s videos on YouTube, I found them while looking for “Electric Motorcycle” videos. They show Todd Kollin and his electric motor and lithium battery conversions, I suspect Todd will be a millionaire soon, if not already.
