The race is still on for best interface method. I just hope it’s something that doesn’t leave me with Carpal tunnel syndrome.
Chris Harrison is investing how to use our skin as an input device or Skinput. Measuring acoustic differences on the skin surface which can be identified and mapped by a computer, using an arm band and a projector, the system can detect hits or taps on the surface of the arm or fingers and uses these taps as commands to control a computer.

Michael A. Cremo (Drutakarma Dasa) is the author of antievolutionist book “Forbidden Archeology” he co-wrote this book with Richard L. Thompson (author of the books “Maya: The World As Virtual Reality” and “Mysteries of the Sacred Universe”). Forbidden Archeology challenges present day views about man’s origins and the established scientific order, Cremo claims that humans have lived on earth for ages (millions or billions of years) and points to fossil evidences which have been suppressed by modern scientists for fear of discrediting their own accepted views and work.

Cremo explains how man maintains a “knowledge filter” ignoring facts which do not fit to his accepted paradigm. Some dicard Cremo’s claims as “pseudoscience.” Why not investigate and decide for yourself…

I wanted to do a quick update to my Aug 25 “Virtual 3D Alternatives…” post. While visiting the Korea sim in Second Life, I overheard a girl talking about a new grid called “Inworldz” which started based on the OpenSim software, buy have now moved past this and are becoming closer to Second Life standards.

I found “The Hidden Story of Jesus” a documentary by Theologian Dr. Robert Beckford and his investigations comparing similarities between different philosophies and religions. Posted here as a full (1:40:53) movie you can watch online.

I believe some men will justify anything to maintain their status and power. Ancient history and current events demonstrate perfect examples of man’s evil deeds. The lies spread in the name of good or God are innumerable. Investigator Paul Davids seems to stop at nothing in his search for the truth about stories of Jesus having traveled to India. His 2008 documentary “Jesus in India” is based on the book “King of Travelers” (Jesus’ Lost Years In India) by Edward T. Martin uncovering the details of the missing years of Jesus’ life. Davids was also inspired by the work of a Russian aristocrat Nicolas Notovitch and his work “La vie inconnue de Jesus Christ.” Notovitch claimed that while recuperating from a broken leg at the Hemis Tibetan Monastery, after some time the Buddhist monks told him they had an ancient texts narrating the life of Jesus (or Issa) translated from Pali as “Life of Saint Issa, Best of the Sons of Men.”

Several books have been written on the so called “missing years” of Jesus, which are not mentioned in the Christian Bible. Paul Davids makes an attempt to fill in the gaps and leaves it up to the viewer to discern the evidence. Here is the Tomb of Jesus website said to be in Kashmir India.
Posted below is the “Jesus in India” movie trailer.

OpenSimulator is a 3D application server, an open source program that lets you create a virtual 3D world environment which can be viewed or “visited” using several clients (3D viewers) you can download for free to your computer.

What is a Virtual World? Many of us have seen or played 3D games on a Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation or an Xbox. A Virtual World is similar 2D or 3D computer-based environment, but more of an online community where users can interact via chat, IM or voice, design and build 3D creations which can be shared, bought or sold.

Second Life users frustrated with Linden policies or simply trying to find cheaper virtual land alternatives are exploring other Virtual Worlds like OSGrid. For example, an SL friend wanted to start Cyberbohemia Virtual Art Gallery and first tried another closed grid, because SL was too expensive and restricted for their needs, so they but found it had too many technical issues yet to resolve, so they decided to do everything on their own. This way, they would never be dependent on anyone’s good will or TOS (Terms of Service). They decided to run their own server with OpenSim as the virtual world simulator software, and connect their regions to the open virtual world called OSGrid. They never regretted this decision (“not for one second”), and are very happy with OpenSim and OSGrid. (Now, for a fraction of the monthly cost on a Second Life 65,536 sq meters SIM (simulator), they run 13 such SIMS connected to OSGrid, and can use many more prims (3D objects) for their 3D builds (depending on computer/server memory).

I can imagine that pretty soon it will be common to teleport between these different virtual world grids, I believe that a common currency is already in the works.

Below is a video of a test done by IBM and Linden Lab® researchers, the first attempt to teleport from Second Life grid to the OSGrid.

Don’t read the following during or after eating… You may be eating HUMAN HAIR in your BAKERY PRODUCTS. L-cystine is used as a dough conditioner, flavor enhancer in food. L-cysteine is produced from a fermentation process involving human hair, chicken feathers, cow horn, synthetic materials and petroleum based derivatives. The most common source was human hair found on the floors of Chinese barbershops, according to Jeanne Yacoubou, MS. (Research Editor, The Vegetarian Resource Group). <Read her article here.> L-cystein is used in bakery products like Croissants, Cake Donuts, Bagels, Pita Bread and others read article… Vegetarian groups have been contacting companies and asking them about their sources, some have already begone to use the synthetic (not human or animal) version of L-cysteine.

I hope we become more aware of commercial and industrial waste products being put into our food and demand they stop fooling us. If not checked, companies will try anything to save on product costs. Anyone remember the movie “Soylent Green“?

For more information about ingredients in foods, see Vegetarian Journal’s Guide to Food Ingredients.

OK, I’ll admit I did have a crush on Kate Bush when I first heard her music circa 1979. Singer, composer, performer, one of the pioneers in pop digital music exploration, I think she was one of the first Fairlight CMI (Computer Music Instrument) owners, along with Richard James Burgess, Peter Gabriel, Thomas Dolby, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran and othes…

My eldest daughter sent me this choreographed robots video to post on my blog, she said it frightened her. As a concerned parent I started watching it, and at first, these robots made me laugh, I mean, technologically speaking it is impressive, but then, reading some of the comments on the YouTube page it hits you, like user “madkinesis” commenting “Now just imagine them full sized and synchronized while hunting you down.” Just imagine the war mongers drooling at the possibilities… taking notes for next year’s purchasing request. I just hope mankind has sense enough to know better.
