The ENERTIA electric motorcycle by Brammo is one of the coolest designs I’ve seen so far for this fast growing trend in transportation. Check out their website and this cool video:

This 100% electric Vectrix scooter is the future of personal transportation. It emits zero emissions. No gas, no oil needed. No environmental impact. Takes about 2.5 hours to fully charge the battery and plugs into a regular wall outlet. Top speed of 62 miles per hour, it’s the world’s first electric motorcycle actually approved for highway use.

Just wanted to give kudos to Make Magazine’s videos on YouTube, I found them while looking for “Electric Motorcycle” videos. They show Todd Kollin and his electric motor and lithium battery conversions, I suspect Todd will be a millionaire soon, if not already.

I remember around 2001 when I heard Toyota was leasing the RAV4-EV electric car and thinking “finally, the world will be saved.”  Somehow or other, soon after Chevron buys Texaco (who owned the patent on the NiMH batteries), these projects were cancelled.   Some of the electric cars produced until now were being crushed and the ones still left have become expensive collector’s items on ebay.  Most of these electric cars are still going strong after years using the same batteries. I guess Chevron figures they can still milk the high price gas situation a little more?  Or can it be that oil based combustion engines bring more money from the selling of replacement parts and car manufactures don’t like the idea of selling cars that don’t break down as much?
