Ever since the days of being the mad scientist/sound wizard with “Roxy Music” the English art rock band, Brian Eno (Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno) has been an inspiration to many artists, musicians, sound engineers & composers. His experimental approach is in the line of composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen & John Cage, challenging the way music was perceived, written and recorded. Well known for his “sound treatments” modulating instruments with electronic devices and synthesizers, he has collaborated with artists like Genesis, Ultravox, Television, Talking Heads, , John Cale, David Bowie, Robert Fripp, U2 and many others. Wiki has an good bio on his work.

Santiago Pando, the creative publicist for ex-president Vicente Fox and his presidential campaign ads, makes this heartfelt documentary film about his efforts to change Mexico, using psychic Mayan connections and afterwards being disillusioned by the new cabinet’s policies. When he tried to contact them about abandoning the goals they had promised to enforce, his family was sent on a downward spiral when his mother-in-law is jailed with trumped up charges of trafficking illegal immigrants. A couple of years of legal battles and their spiritual quest produces some insights about the archaic belief system and the coming 2012 Mayan calendar events, he features shaman Don Lauro who speaks about believing with your heart in order to create a shift in consciousness. You can watch the entire movie online or download it, they include a version with English subtitles (click on “Selecciona tu Idioma” and click English).

Some of us have heard about the huge amount of garbage collecting in the the Pacific Ocean about 1,000 miles off the California coastline, but I think this fact has somehow not made an impact, this garbage is not “just floating on top” of the ocean’s surface, it is becoming part of the ocean’s waters and all marine life, eventually being ingested by predators feeding off the marine life. Plastic molecules and toxins are being found in the tissues of ocean fish which are starting to contaminate humans eating those fish. Maybe it’s time we took this into consideration.

Architect Michael Reynolds has spent the last thirty years developing the ideal sustainable home. He calls this type of design “Biotecture” and makes good use of recycled tires and aluminum cans for the building’s foundation and walls. The Earthships cost about the same as a conventional home to build, but without having to pay as much or in some cases no utility costs. Michael Reynolds has just released a new “Garbage Warrior” DVD documenting his plight.

It is important to understand the difference between HEMP and MARIJUANA (Marihuana). Yes, both are part of the CANNABIS family but were grown from ancient times for very different purposes. Lamont Dupont (Dupont Chemical Co.) and William Randolph Hearst (Newspaper magnate) deliberately made false propaganda about Hemp production to confuse it with Marijuana. Both would loose billions of dollars if Hemp continued to be grown legally and did everything to stop their competition. Their deceitful plot has brought drastic consequences to our economy and ecology. Countries like China and India never stopped producing Hemp and Canada has just re-legalized their Hemp growing Industry with billions to gain. When is the U.S.A. going to take off the blindfold and wake up from this deceitful economic transaction? Seems to me the fear tactics are working fine and keeping everyone under control, whatever happened to the pursuit of freedom? Freedom from lies and ignorance will set one free. The U.S.A. produces 12 billion tons of solid waste annually. Brian Appel and his team have built a giant chemistry set in Philadelphia that takes any kind of organic material (anything that contains carbon) and converts it into oil. The process is called Thermal Depolymerization “TDP” and it copies the earth’s natural process for making fuel. They start by shredding the material, mixing it with water, pressure cooking it and then separating the oil from the water.
