Actor Richard Gere attended a 5 day Buddhist gathering at Bodh Gaya in Bihar, India. Bodh Gaya is regarded as the holy site where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment meditating under a Bodhi Tree. Gere said he is strongly in favor for turning Bodh Gaya into a vegetarian zone. An exemplary idea since, after all, the main purpose of the Buddha’s appearance on earth was to spread the doctrine of “Ahimsa” or non-violence, specifically to stop the killing of animals.
