Ostheopathic physician Dr. Mercola speaks against the production and consumption of unfermented soybean products like Soy Infant Formula, Tofu, Soy Milk and Textured Soy. I can’t have an ecological category without mentioning this no fuel – free energy source magnetic motor (patent pending), developed by Australian inventors John Christie and Lou Brits. The model Lutec 1000 is the closest thing I’ve seen to a perpetual motion motor and can produce 24 kilowatts with a simple kickstart using a car battery. This is a major breakthrough for home power generators and they plan to sell for $4000-$5000 dollars.

After living in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, México for ten years (1991-2001) and seeing the urgency for sustainable development in ecologically sensitive areas like Baja, I have still not given up on the idea of building my own earthship and pursuing the almost utopian dream of disconnecting myself from “the grid.”

I just found out that an old friend still living in Los Cabos is zealously working towards providing solar powered products and ecological home alternatives (solar plants, solar cookers and home desalination plants). I am excited to get back into the solar path, I’ve been asked to cover the upcoming “Solar Power International ’08” Conference in San Diego (Oct. 13-16, 2008). You can see feature interviews of last year’s conference HERE. For more information on Earthships, Biotecture Sustainable Independent Buildings visit www.earthship.net

Gustavo Cerati is one of my favorite latin american music artists, he is songwriter, guitarist and vocalist for the great rock band Soda Stereo from Argentina. A while back, I found this mesmerizing Shakira music video directed by Jaume de Laiguana in which Cerati collaborates on guitar and backing vocals. The song was written by Shakira and Lester Méndez and is part of her album ” Fijación Oral Vol. 1″ (2005).

Just wanted to give kudos to Make Magazine’s videos on YouTube, I found them while looking for “Electric Motorcycle” videos. They show Todd Kollin and his electric motor and lithium battery conversions, I suspect Todd will be a millionaire soon, if not already.

I wanted to start this Vedic category with a video clip from Devavision Productions, describing how early European explorers and Indologists misinterpreted their findings. This ancient treasure of knowledge has been passed down from guru to disciple from time immemorial. It is recommended that one should study the Vedas from experienced teachers, not from so called scholars who merely poke around and speculate without practicing the spiritual disciplines described in these shastras (scriptures).
